The Panasonic Flashxpress (NB-G110P) and the Mueller 4 Slice (MT-175) are both small units. In the small toaster oven top list, the first one is our best energy-saving pick while the second is our best-value pick. This is one of the occasions where a digital model isn’t necessarily better than an analog one.
Both have similar overall scores with a tiny edge going over to the Mueller. Keep in mind though, that the Mueller is significantly cheaper than the Panasonic.
The Panasonic has an auto-pull rack which is quite unique. However we didn’t find it particularly convenient compared to the Mueller’s standard rack. Moreover, that auto-pull rack prevented us from making full use of the space of an already-small cooking chamber.
On the other hand, the Mueller has a neat detachable crumb tray for easy cleaning the interior. However, its analog control dials made it difficult for us to precisely adjust the timer and temperature. Unfortunately, the Panasonic’s timer and temperature adjustment itself is quite limited—in increments of 0.5 minute and 35°F respectively.
Cooking performance was what gave the Mueller the decisive advantage. The two toaster ovens were quite equal in baking pizza and roasting whole chicken.
The Panasonic could reach and maintain quite a higher temperature as evident in its better baked fries result despite its not-so-high power output. However, this strength when combined with a limited toast setting resulted in a much less desirable outcome than the Mueller’s when toasting bread.
