Sakura Kitchen Hoods are manufactured in Taiwan by international standards. Before these gems were available for purchase in North America, they have found success in many other countries, including Hong Kong, Australia, and Thailand, to name a few.

With its distinguishing degreasing system, the Sakura 30-inch R747-II-30HS is one of the most unique-looking exhaust hoods you can find on the market. That is not to neglect the hood’s ample strength and its capability of improving the air quality.

Let’s dive into its specifications and find out if it has what you need.

The Sakura 30-inch Hairline Stainless Steel R747-II-30HS is a ducted, under-cabinet stainless steel kitchen range hood that should work well with 24- or 30-inch gas ranges.

Suction

Running with two powerful motors at the same time, the hood can remove up to 710 cubic feet of polluted air per minute (CFM). By estimation, the hood should be able to simultaneously take care of four power burners with a rating of 17,000 British thermal unit (BTU) with ease.

There is a Lower Speed setting. It should maintain the hood between 400 to 500 CFM while limiting the noise level down to 2 sones (50 dB— quiet suburbs), which is much quieter than the 4.5 sones at maximum capacity.

Filtration

The R747-II-30HS sports an exclusive degreasing system called the 3D Vane Guard that traps oil and prevents buildup inside the hood. There are two, and each guard assembly consists of a stainless steel basket and a layer of aluminum mesh.

When the blower runs, they draw the fumes in through the filters that will solidify the airborne grease. It then drains down to plastic oil collectors at the bottom of the baskets and the rear of the hood for later removal.

Maintenance

Keeping the hood clean and new should be a breeze. The stainless steel body is highly rust- and corrosion-resistant. The stainless steel baskets and oil cups are removable and dishwasher-safe. The fans are also coated with non-stick Teflon to reduce further buildup.

Compared to hoods that utilize their entire capture zone with removable filters, the two-entry design of this Sakura leaves out more surface area onto which cooking emissions may cling. That means more manual cleaning.

The aluminum mesh filters are reusable and should be replaced every 6 to 12 months. There will be six aluminum mesh filters included that should be enough for replacements in the next two or three years.

Installation

This Sakura goes under the cabinet above the cooking stove, and it is compatible with both top- and rear-venting. Top-venting means to run the vent vertically through the ceiling, and rear-venting is through the backsplash. The hood’s power consumption is already modified to North America Standard.

The hood is under a 5-year warranty on motor and a 1-year on parts.
