Overall Design Scoring

The Ninja Nutri is a very capable blender, so it scores well in most of our evaluations. The trouble is that it is very expensive and far bulkier and more complex than any personal blender should be. If you are short on cooking space, don’t want to fuss with settings, and expect to get your money’s worth, then those are issues.

You may fall in love with this blender the moment you lay eyes on it. Compact and beautiful, the BLACK+DECKER FusionBlade is decently made and equipped for the price. It’s refined and as simple to use as any personal blender out there.

Overall Usability Scoring

The Ninja Nutri is kind of impressive in that it looks fussy and technical, but is easy to figure out in practice. Once you get used to it, cleaning and assembling are simple as well.

Given its simplicity, the BLACK+DECKER blender is easy to understand in the first few minutes. Cleaning it, on the other hand, isn’t as easy. The blending cup is too narrow for your hands to reach inside, but you can entirely remove food tailings from any hard-to-reach spots using a bottle brush.

Overall Performance Scoring

While the Ninja Nutri is advertised as a personal blender, it actually features a powerful motor worthy of a full-sized blender. As such, in our hands-on testing, it was more efficient than most rivals. Still, its outcomes were not always the best. Ultimately, we don’t think you need to fork over so much cash for a personal blender when there are cheaper, smaller, and better options like the NutriBullet and the Ninja QB3001SS Fit.

The BLACK+DECKER FusionBlade performed acceptably in our tests, but didn’t blow our socks off. Although it wasn’t as quick as more robust blenders, its blended mixture, either packed with frozen fruits or raw nuts, was almost as smooth. We were disappointed when our leafy veggies couldn’t be blended to the finest consistency in the third test, but we still got better results than with other blenders in this price range.

  • A powerful motor allows for heavy-duty blending
  • Stainless steel extractor blades are exceptionally tough
  • Hands-free operation offers greater convenience
  • Sturdy motor base ensures stable performance
  • Blending cups are included with to-go lids
  • It offers consistent performance.
  • There is an extra blending jar with twist-on travel lids included.
  • The motor is more than sufficient for light-duty tasks.
  • It has a fetching, well-finished, and simple design.
  • It’s heavy and quite bulky
  • The control panel is gimmicky
  • The feets’ suction is so strong making it challenging to remove the base
  • The premium price tag might be a high barrier for many people
  • It doesn’t allow for hands-free operation
  • A better blade assembly could make blending more efficient.

Conclusion

The Ninja BL480D Nutri offers everything that the BLACK+DECKER FusionBlade doesn’t—hands-free operation, heavy blending performance, and high-quality construction. Using it though, is a little more complicated, but this is an acceptable  compromise for all the intelligent programs that are meant to help you take the guesswork out of the best homemade beverages.

As a basic blender, the BLACK+DECKER FusionBlade was no match for its higher-priced counterpart in our tests for breaking down leafy greens and whole ice cubes. However, when it comes to preparing protein shakes and frozen fruit smoothies, it delivered comparatively smooth results.

In conclusion, the choice between the Ninja BL480D Nutri and the BLACK+DECKER FusionBlade is more about your budget than any other factor. Although the BLACK+DECKER FusionBlade is not as solid nor as efficient as the Ninja BL480D Nutri in processing hard ingredients, it’s a cheaper and more convenient blender, in the range that would suit the vast majority of needs.
