The Waste King L3200 3/4 HP and the GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP are similar in a lot of ways. They both run on permanent magnet motors with high speeds, they both have stainless steel grinding components, and they follow the same chamber design. The biggest difference is their power rating.

You would assume that the one with more raw power is the better-performing one. But our performance evaluation shows that the GE Disposall Green outperformed the Waste King L3200 because the L3200 outright failed the Raw Fish Scrap test. It’s not the most important function in real-life contexts, but the data speaks volumes about the GE Disposall grinding capability.

Taking a closer look at the test results, the GE and the Waste King tie in the whether-or-not-it-can-handle-random-food-scraps-in-large-amounts category. This is the most important test since that’s the reason many of us buy these garbage disposals in the first place.

When we upped the ante and introduced raw meat scraps, the L3200 failed to deliver satisfactory results. By contrast, the Disposall Green rose to the occasion and went through the two tougher tests like a champ—much to our surprise since it’s a smaller unit.

Right now on Amazon, the Waste King L3200 3/4 HP is being offered for less than the GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP. With care, either of them can be good. They’re both effective at dealing with common food scraps even when in toppling amounts. The L3200 is bigger, so if size is an issue but budget is not, I would go with the GE Disposall Green.
