Per our data, the GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP outperforms the Frigidaire FF05DISPC1 1/2 HP by a far cry. Not only did the GE deliver better test results, it went through our evaluation process with impressive consistency. At the same time, the Frigidaire FF05DISPC1 passed the standard test but failed the two harder ones. Not to mention the flawed design of the FF05DISPC1’s impellers
In terms of performance, neither the Disposall Green nor the FF05DISPC1 is particularly better at dealing with random kitchen scraps from common foods. They take roughly the same amount of time to grind down the same amount of food, and the results they yield resemble one another, too. However, that’s mostly true with scraps from easy-to-grind foods like fruits and vegetables.
When we tried the two machines out on tougher foods, the Frigidaire FF05DISPC1 struggled immediately. Its impellers even got stuck when pieces of broken bones lodged themselves right underneath, and that has happened more than once.
Meanwhile, the GE Disposall Green handled tougher scraps with panache. It dealt with raw fish adequately but impressed us with how it went against the raw chicken bone scraps. To put it simply, the disposal outperformed several 3/4-hp and 1-hp units.
If you have to choose between the two disposals, we’d recommend the GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP. To be fair, the Frigidaire FF05DISPC1 1/2 is a product with quality materials and parts, but its only advantage over the Disposall Green is affordability. If the FF05DISPC1’s performance were more consistent, it would have had great potential.
