Tested Using Methodology v1.0Overall Verdict
When we were testing 3/4-horsepower garbage disposals, it was such a surprise to see the AmazonCommercial 3/4 HP delivering quality results as it did; it’s mainly because the disposal flaunts its affordability, thus our expectation was not high. However, the most surprising thing had to be seeing the InSinkErator Evolution Compact 3/4 HP getting outperformed across categories in testing.
To be clear, the Evolution Compact 3/4 HP is a quality and solid garbage disposal. It’s widely known among plumber communities for its effectiveness and durability, and judging from our data, it indeed delivers consistently strong performance against a large range of common food scraps. The disposal is one of the quietest on the market thanks to InSinkErator’s noise/vibration damping technology. But all this goodness does ramp up to a considerable sum of money.
The AmazonCommercial, by contrast, is incredibly affordable (under $80). Yet, it was a total beast throughout the evaluation process and is currently ranked 3rd out of 20 different models in our lineup. The disposal comes in a blank cardboard box that has one information sticker (model number, serial numbers, etc.) and is under a 1-year warranty from Amazon. Despite the lower cost, with all things considered, it seems that the company didn’t have to compromise the core machinery.
When it comes to animal bones, cooked or raw, both disposals are unreliable—so far, we’ve only seen one competent model for such a task. Stay away from them, and either grinder can help you out a lot in the kitchen. Although the InSinkErator Evolution Compact 3/4 HP costs more money than the AmazonCommercial 3/4 HP, you mainly pay for InSinkErator’s exclusive technology, quality control, and a 3-year of warranty.
