Unless you manage to catch it on a steep sale, the PUR Plus PFM350V is around $10 extra over the PUR Plus FM2500V. So, is it worth the money?

Let’s talk about performance first. Both models did excellently in our chlorine filtering test, purifying the highly-chlorinated water that we pumped through them until all traces of the chemical were gone (we use a special water test kit for this purpose.)

Unfortunately, the PFM350V and the FM2500V failed our filtering flow rate test. Mounted to a high-pressure faucet (2.2 GPM) and switched to filtering mode, the PFM350V achieved 0.44 GPM, and the FM2500V got 0.3 GPM.

These are very low numbers. Much lower than the minimum threshold required to pass our flow rate test (0.5 GPM). If you want to have fast-flowing tap water in your household, neither of these models will make for a good buy.

The PUR Plus PFM350V and FM2500V are both made from plastic. While it’s certainly not as durable as faucet-mount filters made from stainless steel, the filters look very premium, painted with an elegant dark grey color. They’ll fit well into kitchens of any design but will work out wonderfully if your cooking space follows a contemporary scheme.

The pricier PFM350V also has an extra feature: an indicator light that tells you when to switch out the filter cartridge.

So, to recap, which one is worth picking over?

Whichever suits your budget, because from our tests, there’s not much difference between them other than the design.
