The Ovalware and Takeya are cold brew coffee makers that brew equally good coffee despite the differences between them. The Takeya brews with a 1:9 brew ratio and the Ovalware with 1:11. Yet, the quality and strength of the brew from Ovalware suggests it is the more economical choice with a more effective filter.
However, the key difference between the brewers is a choice in design. The Takeya is the only cold brew coffee maker where the grounds are completely sealed within the filter that screws into the lid. This means you can shake the brewer during brewing as recommended without anything spilling out. You can also choose to brew with the vessel standing in the refrigerator door or laying sideways on a shelf.
The Ovalware, made of glass and stainless steel, is more versatile for brewing hot beverages. The Takeya, manufactured in the USA, is made from high-grade Tritan plastic and, therefore, is unbreakable.
