Zephyr has been making kitchen range exhaust hoods for many years and has reaped much success.
The company was founded on the premise that range hoods should be functional as well as innovative, focusing on developing clever designs that are both practical and aesthetic. The brand’s award collection, with many having to do with design work, reflects that.
The Tamburo Under-Cabinet series is one of Zephyr older lines of recirculating range hoods, and today, we’ll dive into its Tamburo ZTA-E30AS 30-inch Range Hood.
The ventilation system sports an exclusive and modern look that increases the capture zone while maintaining a neat presence in the kitchen. It also offers a quality build and consistent performance.
Zephyr Range Hood Review: Best Features
Instead of a flat, box-like front as with other range hoods, the Zephyr Tamburo ZTA-E30AS has a convex front that reaches forward towards the cook. The curvature helps smooth out the dry, mechanical appearance, making the hood blend in much more easily. Additionally, the extra surface area adds to the overall coverage, which translates to an increased intake of kitchen air and its pollutant.
The unit includes a handy, adjustable utensils bar that goes onto the backsplash, hanging just above the counter. The bar helps you keep all frequently-used larger utensils within reach at all times. You can also take it off if you’d rather not use it.
The Tamburo ZTA-E30AS can remove up to 400 cubic feet of air per minute (CFM) at the highest and 210 CFM at the lowest. With such suction, this Zephyr hood should have no difficulty dealing with stoves that have a total heat rating of 40,000 British thermal units (BTU).
There’s a weaker model that yields 290 CFM at maximum capacity.
The ZTA-E30AS is a convertible model, meaning you can use it to either extract or recirculate air. Recirculation requires charcoal filters to clean the air and then redistributes it. Unfortunately, the recirculating kit that includes the filters is sold separately.
The Tamburo has both horizontal and vertical ducting profiles. Horizontal ducting starts from the top of the unit and goes through the ceiling; vertical ducting, on the other hand, takes the rear port of the unit and leads the duct through the backsplash.
Thanks to the under-cabinet design, which means the hood is mounted to the cabinet above the stove, having the hood up should be quick and simple.
Notice that duct pipes are not included.

The lightweight aluminum mesh degreasers are easy to remove and top-rack dishwasher safe. However, if you plan to clean them regularly, it’s well-advised to handwash with warm soapy water because high heat and corrosive cleaners can damage them.
It would help maximize the degreasers’ life span if you clean them at least twice a year. You should also replace them every two years. Charcoal carbon filters are not reusable and should be changed every 120 hours.
The model is under a 3-year warranty on parts and a one-year warranty on labor.
