Pros
  • Durable high carbon steel blade
  • Sharp blade with excellent edge retention
  • Comfortable hardwood handle

Cons
  • A little light and thin for some of the heavier chopping jobs

Solingen is the renowned home of some of the world’s top-quality knives. So, as you would expect, the Imarku chef’s knife is made to the exacting standards expected of all knife manufacturers from the area.

High Carbon German Engineered Blade

The Imarku chef’s knife boasts a high carbon stainless steel German-engineered blade. The Imarku blade steel has a carbon content of between 0.6 to 0.75%. This is twice as hard as a regular stainless-steel blade which contains around 0.3%. The blade also contains up to 18% chrome, making it corrosion free and tarnish resistant.

Overall the knife measures 13 inches. That’s 5 inches of handle and 8 inches of blade. It has a Rockwell Hardness score of between 56 and 58— not one of the hardest out there but it’s also less prone to chipping than harder blades. The blade is stamped rather than forged.

By all reports, this knife is sharp right from the box, and it holds its edge well. The tapered blade means that this knife is good for all types of chopping, slicing and dicing jobs in the kitchen. The bellied center gives it strength and the fine tip is good for all the lighter, finer tasks.

This is a lightweight knife. It weighs in at 6.9 ounces. It causes less hand fatigue than heavier knives, but you may experience some difficulty in cutting harder vegetables such as carrots lengthways. It has a double-beveled blade each has a 15° angle.

Elegant Hardwood Handle

The ergonomic shaft handle is made from mirror-polished African Pakka wood. This is a comfortable, yet stable material that will fit snuggly into your hand without slipping. It has an engraved end cap and offers plenty of knuckle space. The handle is resin-treated, making it impervious to water.

This light and well-balanced knife with bolstered handle offer excellent weight distribution. So, it is efficient in use and offers improved maneuverability. The bolster ensures safe use of the knife, keeping your hand away from the blade and affording control and balance.

Easy Knife to Maintain and Use

This chef’s knife is dishwasher safe, but it always better to preserve your knives by washing them by hand in warm, soapy water.

The Imarku chef’s knife is very nicely packaged so it would make the perfect gift. You could also use the packaging to store your knife.

This is a reasonably priced chef’s knife offering excellent value for money. It is made from durable materials that should last for years and it comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
