The CuZn UC-200 under counter water filter utilizes a patented combination of KDF-55 Filtration Media and Virgin Acid Washed Catalytic Coconut Shell Carbon Filtration Media that have been tested to NSF standard 42 and 61 satisfactorily.
The CuZn UC-200 filter reduces a wide variety of organic and inorganic contaminants including but not limited to: chlorine, water soluble cation heavy metals (lead, mercury, chromium VI, cadmium, etc.), herbicides, pesticides, sediment, algae, molds, bad taste, odors and other undesirable contaminants that affect the quality of your potable water supply.
One thing must be borne in mind that the CuZn UC-200 filter is only a filter. Hence, it neither softens hard water nor changes the TDS value of water. A TDS or PPM meter is not suited to test water filtered by CuZn UC-200 filter.
Look and Feel
The CuZn UC-200 under counter water filter comes in grey color with black ends. The ends have two tubes, one acting as an inlet and other as an outlet. The ends are made of metal to accommodate sink inlet and outlet fasteners.
CuZn specifies the filter to be 15.5” tall and 4” in diameter. It is made in USA and weighs approximately 8 pounds. It comes with a stainless-steel water hose.
Installation
We found that the installation process of the filter is extremely convenient and can be done by anyone with utmost ease. The only tool we need for installation is an adjustable wrench. There are only two faucets involved and the hassle of a third faucet is eliminated. We first must determine the cold-water line and turn it off. We then disconnect the supply line using the adjustable wrench, take it to the outlet of the CuZn UC-200 filter and fasten it securely using hands and the wrench. The supply hose that comes with the filter just above the valve and has to be fastened like the outlet. That’s it. We are done!
We need to open the cold-water line and run the faucet for about 30 seconds. This ensures that all the media fines are removed and any air in the filtration system is purged.
