First off, we have to take a look at the MotionSense - Moen exclusive touchless technology, more specifically the two-sensor version.

...but if you have to…

There is, of course, a handle as well for such cases where you don’t feel like doing waterbending techniques. The handle is with standard functions of a quality faucet. It also lets you control the water force and temperature when the water is run by the sensors.

It will, once again, come in handy when the sensors unexpectedly malfunction or the batteries run out. All in all, a faucet without a handle is something that I personally would not trust.

The spout and sprayhead

Pull-down faucets are no longer a thing of wonders like it once was, but it remains one of the best kitchen pieces of decor thanks to the reach and the angle play. What’s convenient about the Moen Arbor 7594e, or pretty much all Moen pull-down faucets, is the high arc, the flexible braided hose, the retractable head, and the secure docking.

Retractable heads, though expected to operate smoothly for a long time, are never as good as advertised, especially with the docking. After a certain amount of time, if it’s not treated with care, accidents and negative effects of traction at certain parts are inevitable.

To me, retractability is not completely about how it can retract by itself but more about the force lent to help lead the thing back into place without forceful shoving. We have to understand that the whole thing is just an exploitation of gravity. So the safest way to keep your faucets long-lasting is to be gentle.

All that said, the spout is perfectly good, nonetheless. The arc is high enough for big and deep pots; the hose and its build is engineered to be remarkably bendable; the head is securely docked and is with two common modes, namely stream and spray, and a pause button (in case you’re a few feet away - 68” at maximum - from the sink.)

The skin and warranty

And by “skin” I mean the finishes. The best finishes for kitchen fixtures are of course the ones that can stand against stains and such. Particularly with this product, oil rubbed bronze and Spot Resist stainless are the two for that purpose and for looking gorgeous as well.

My personal style of choice for kitchen faucets is always the pull-down. I, myself, have much use for the high-arc and find the vertical length to be quite elegant.

Still, that is not to wholly disregard pull-out faucets. In a small kitchen with considerably limited counter and sink space, a compact faucet is, of course, the optimal choice. It also depends on your own preference on design and usability.

While not equipped with fancy technologies, the Moen Arbor 7294 is still a pull-out kitchen faucet with all the functions that can easily ease your daily kitchen routine. Straightforward and money-saving.

No Reflex, but still retracts

As the name suggests, the headwand can be pulled out to the maximum reach of 59” - more than enough for a small kitchen and not lacking for a spacious one.

Unlike Moen pull-downs, pull-outs don’t need Reflex to help the wand and hose retract, thanks to the nature of the wand placement in design. However, I doubt it will automatically get drawn back if you pull it too far out. Something to keep in mind.

The wand also features 2 spraying modes and one pause button for specific uses. You have the normal aerated stream, and the Power Clean powered spray mode for faster clean up.

Finish and warranty

Regarding finish, there are four available choices: chrome, matte black, oiled rubbed bronze and Spot Resist stainless. As discussed earlier, the ideal option would be a finish that is stain-resistant and looks good while being so, which is not entirely impossible.

Besides the oil rubbed bronze and Spot Resist stainless for potential candidates, matte black could also be a pretty nice choice.

It’s especially known for its ability to hide scratches and perhaps most importantly, its own unique look. However, oil and smudges are easily visible without regular maintenance. So, be mindful with your choice of finish.

You have no idea how hard I’ve tried to find a top-selling Moen kitchen faucet that is not from the Arbor. The collection is simply tough to beat. I came really close with the Moen Brantford 7185, but in the end, the Arbor 7594 is slightly better.

The Brantford, owning a unique frame with a touch of the classic-tap vibe in opposition to the modern feel of the Arbor, would surely make for a not-any-less-attractive choice.

The Arbor 7594, in short, is simply the Arbor 7594e but with Power Boost instead of Power Clean, and MotionSense excluded. Plus, the 7594 has a finish option that the 7594e lacks, which is the matte black (because the sensors of the MotionSense is already black).

Power Boost and Reflex

Power Boost lets the user choose between the normal stream/spray and the 50% boosted force with only a push of a button right on the sprayer.

And 50% means a lot!

It means you can fill up containers with half the time; it means you can spray-clean your kitchenware and appliances better; and it means the water is used in a more efficient manner.

However, the power-boosted spray of Power Boost is no longer the top choice for cleaning and rinsing, not now that there is Power Clean, with many more concentrated spray streams for better performance overall. Nonetheless, the faster filling for pots and the sorts is still a nice feature to have around the kitchen.

Finish and warranty

Finishes will play a bigger part now that MotionSense is not available. One of the perks of hands-free faucets is that buildup transferred from our hands is a definitely smaller problem. Less touching, less smudging. Science!

The quality structure and strong water force are the essences of commercial taps. This commercial style kitchen faucet, although built for home use, is designed to keep that essence, but with a few twitches to make it more household friendly.

Dimensions

The size and build of the actual commercial taps are quite substantial in order to withstand the immense water pressure and heavy-duty use of commercial demands, and definitely not suitable for a family kitchen. That’s why commercial-style faucets tend to be more compact because the needs are different for a house.

Regardless, commercial style faucets are still comparatively big. The Moen Align 5923 is 22.50” high and its spout-reach is 10” long, occupying more vertical room than most pull out faucets (about 15” high). So make sure that your counter is spacious enough before confirming a purchase.

Power Clean and the hose

To meet the expected water pressure of a commercial faucet, Power Clean is indeed featured. Keep in mind that commercial water use is much different. The water force is at least a few times stronger than that of home use.

With that given, Power Clean is, therefore, possibly the perfect technology for Moen Align 5923. You’ll have just enough force to rinse, to wash and to clean with the minimum splash; plus, water is used in a much more preserving manner.

Another thing that is interesting about the faucet is the long braided hose. Most commercial-style kitchen faucets on the market have the average hose-length of 22”. Guess how long this one is? It’s 68”! Three times as much. You will have unbelievable flexibility with this particular commercial style faucet.

The hose can also retract itself quite nicely. The counterweight, in unison with the docking, make the whole experience more convenient.

A small tip: when done using, lead the hose (not the joint of the sprayhead) into the docking grooves, release and let the counterweight do the rest.

Finish and warranty

I think by now you’ve had your own understanding of the importance of finishes, so I’m not going to address that again. What’s worth noting is that the chrome version is, at the time of writing, on sale.

1. The company’s history

Let’s go back to 1937 when a young Alfred M. Moen jumped back in panic as the hot water bursted out of a malfunction classic two-handle faucet and burned his hand.
